According to Middle East News, the handover ceremony was attended by the Deputy Emir of the Mecca Region and Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Hajj and Umrah Committee. The official protocol was signed by Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Chairman of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, and Abdul Malik bin Taha Al-Shaibi, the senior custodian of the Kaaba.

The replacement process begins on the first day of the Islamic new year, 1st Muharram, which falls on June 27 this year.
